Snow Removal and Inclement Weather

To ensure that everyone is well-informed about the Lake Manassas ROA’s policies and procedures during snow and ice events please keep the following in mind:

Plowing
Our dedicated crews will commence road-clearing operations when two inches of snow have accumulated to maintain accessible drive lanes for emergency vehicles. Main roads are plowed first followed by secondary roads, cul-de-sacs, and pipe stems. Please be patient and considerate during these events, as our teams work diligently to service the entire community.   Please do not approach vendors. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Association Management by email at [email protected].

Shoveling
In the event of significant snowfall, your driveway apron may be covered after plowing. We recommend waiting to clear your driveway until your street has been plowed to avoid repeating the work. If you must shovel before a plow comes through, always shovel to the right, facing the street.  Homeowners are responsible for clearing their lead-walk and driveway.  While Prince William County and the Association encourage and appreciate residents to clear a path on the sidewalk in front of their home, we understand that it is not always possible due to the amount of snow, large piles, as well as realizing that in some instances, residents are not physically up to the task.

Sand and Salt
Sand and salt is applied to roads sparingly on an as needed basis by the Association, generally treating intersections when icy conditions are predicted.  As a reminder, do not use any salt products on sidewalks or driveway aprons. Rather, there are ice melt products that can be used that do not damage concrete surfaces the way salt products do.

Parking During Inclement Weather
Street parking in Lake Manassas is prohibited without prior authorization from Association Management. To facilitate efficient street clearing, ensure no vehicles are parked on the street during inclement weather. Turtle Point townhome residents, please refrain from leaving vehicles in designated “snow emergency” areas when two or more inches of snow are predicted.

Gate Procedures
During major snow events, gate barriers will be raised, and gates opened at each entrance to prevent damage. Please be aware that the resident lane at manned gates will be temporarily out of service. Entry into the community will only be through the visitor lane until the snow event concludes and entry lanes are cleared.

Trash Removal During Inclement Weather
There may be times when unsafe driving conditions may impact trash and recycling removal services. Check American Disposal’s website at www.americandisposal.com/virginia/ for service updates. The Lake Manassas management team will also send a blast email notification to the community if service is affected.

Frozen Ponds and Lake
Skating or playing on any frozen pond or lake area is dangerous and prohibited.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we navigate through inclement weather.
